Ardvreck Castle Loch Assynt

Overcast day. Drove to Elphin to see if we could catch a glimpse of Suilivenbut sadly the clouds were lying so low that we couldn't see the mountain.
We decided to head further north to Loch Assynt and Ardvreck Castle.The castle which dates back to 1490 when it and the lands belonged to the Macleods of Assynt.
On the way back to Ullapool we stopped at theKnockan Crag National Nature Reserve. Fascinating stuff and we loved the artworks dotted along the trail.
