Millau viaduct
We drove up from Cap d'Agde back to Betaille, a four and a half hour drive through stunning scenery. Norman Foster's masterpiece, the Millau viaduct, spans the gorge at Millau held up by its seven towers. It marked the halfway point on our journey and a stop for lunch. I was once audacious enough to try capturing its magnificence in a song lyric. "Seven slender sisters, reaching for the sky, whispering their whispers, on angels' wings we fly...." The lady who resides in our satnav insisted on calling it "Millo", but the two l's are silent making it more like "Mio". We had a wonderful short break and are sure to go back down there again, virus permitting.
