Tauranga Bay

Today I drove A and the dogs to the start of the Cape Foulwind walkway. They walked over the cape past the lighthouse and seal colony to Tauranga Bay. I drove around to the other end of the track to pick them up. They must have enjoyed themselves because despite the rain the were all smiling (yep, dogs too) when they finished the walk.

While I waited for them I wandered along the beach then staked out a few likely weka spots with my camera. Sadly no weka appeared which was odd as there have been weka there every other time I've been there over the years.

Of course we saw lots of them fossicking on the road verges as we drive - typically where I couldn't pull over and grab the camera.
