Kingsand And Cawsand

Today we drove to the conjoined seaside villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, overlooking Plymouth Sound. Like Polperro, they were once centres of fishing and smuggling and are full of quaint pastel cottages, but they are much quieter and less touristy with little beaches lending themselves to kayaking and paddle boarding.

We sat by the beach, strolled the narrow streets and along the coastal path towards Plymouth for a bit before enjoying a fish lunch (mussels and chips for me, seafood linguine for Tess).

Originally, Kingsand was in Devon and Cawsand in Cornwall and there was a sign marking the old county boundary on the wall opposite the pub we had lunch in. They’re both now in Cornwall.
