A mourir

... d'ennui.

First event of the summer season this evening. I'll start by saying it was very unphotogenic; I took four photos and this was the least uninteresting. Just be glad that unlike us you didn't have to sit through an hour and 45 minutes of Nous Etions Debout et Nous ne le Savions Pas. A "play" which was in fact just a seemingly endless series of didactic speeches, some of which were barely audible due to the actors wandering around a large hall without mikes and often with their backs to us. I switched off completely for long periods.

It was all very politically correct and we couldn't disagree with any of it, but it went on .. and on ... and on ... addressing every single shortcoming of neoliberal capitalism. However, we seemed to be alone in our opinion; everyone else applauded enthusiastically. At the end we were first in the queue for wine and charcuterie. Luckily the apero was very convivial and we had a good chat with P and M which made up for our earlier suffering.

Edit:it wasn't as bad as this.

In other news, hurrah for Mark Cavendish! What an amazing Tour de France he's having. So pleased for him after the difficulties he's had for the last four years.
