Hooray! Hooray!
Alan's gone on a short holiday! :-)
Christine packed most of Alan's stuff yesterday so it was just the last minute things Ashleigh and Vickie had to get organised. They weren't leaving till after lunch so they didn't have to rush.
David was looking out for the AA from 9am, keen to get the car seen to. It's not even a year old so definitely shouldn't be making the racket it's making. It sounds a though there's no oil in it or we've put the wrong fuel in it (it has plenty oil and the right fuel.) The AA guy couldn't get to the bottom of the problem so called the VW garage in Perth to arrange to have the car taken to their work shop. He then left.
David took Alan's car down to the Coop to get some last minute provisions for the weekend and returned just as the same guy who'd got him and the car home last night, turned up to take it away. He still thinks it could be the crank shaft.
Our car gone, and it was time for Alan to head off. They've taken the portable hoist with them as they're hoping he can have a go on the beach wheelchairs at St Andrews. I hope that works out as I know he would love it.
After lunch, a quick tidy up and some time crocheting. It felt funny to have the house to ourselves and even funnier not to have a car! We had no plans to drive anywhere this weekend but as soon as it's not possible to, the urge to go somewhere takes over! lol
Spent the early part of the evening on food preparation for tomorrow. I like to spend as little time in the kitchen as possible when friends are here, so the strawberry cheesecake is made (just to decorate it with chocolate dipped strawberries and swirls of cream) and the Korean beef is marinating ready to go in the slow cooker. The ingredients for the Korean green salad are prepped and ready to be put together just before serving. Oh, and the Prosecco is chilling.
Tonight it was an easy dinner of takeaway pizza and two episodes of Outlander. Fab! Oh and a text message from Ashleigh to say they arrived and discovered that Alan's school teacher from his final year at school is staying in the cottage next door with his family! Alan was very happy to see him and vice versa.
It's a small world! :-)
Blip shows Alan grinning just as he was getting ready to go. No smiles in the photo with Ashleigh and Vickie as he was most annoyed at having to stop for the pic on his way to the car. He was more than ready to head off! :-)) Our poorly car getting winched onto the truck, Lola who spent most of the afternoon sleeping off an energetic walk in the moor with R, and my cheesecake, which doesn't contain gelatine so I am hoping it will set! Time will tell! :-)
