Reaching for the sky

Dublin Bay, my climbing rose for St Patricks Day, bred by Samuel Darragh McGredy IV in 1975. Sam McGredy was a fourth generation Northern Irish rose hybridizer from Portadown, Country Armagh, Northern Ireland moving the family business to New Zealand in 1972 and focused on Floribundas, Hybrid Teas and Grandifloras.

Dublin Bay is described as an outstanding climber bearing clusters of deep red, large, double blooms with a mild, fruity fragrance providing blooms in flushes throughout the season. Today it is set against a sky which can't make up its mind. Rain came but only in the form of light showers, just enough to freshen the garden up but no more than that, the ground is still very dry, we eagerly await for the forcasted rain to bucket down tomorrow in Canterbury.

Hope your all enjoying a great weekend :)
