Memory lane

Bee and I dropped Josh off for his train back to London then headed over the Menai Bridge to Anglesey - scene of all our childhood holidays.

Josh decided to take his weights to London - madness snd inevitably his back was incredibly heavy. Still I suppose he could consider the journey a protracted workout session.

We visited Red Wharf Bay which I have always loved and Beaumaris where we looked in some rather lovely shops. We both wondered why we had so often visited Bull Bay as children given there was little there - a small not particularly attractive beach, and a large gift shop full of tat that we loved - painted stones snd mussel shells with eyes and feet stuck on - that kind of thing.

We also visited Moelfre where my Auntie Anne had had a house, the village had always felt less attractive to me than other places, but today in the sunshine it was lovely.

Of course we also visited Cemaes Bay where my grandparents and Great Uncle Jock had houses. I remember the constant ship and tanker watching by the older male family members with binoculars from the huge picture window that had a terrific view over the fields and out to sea. Now there is a new housing estate blocking that view.

Our final stopping off point was Cemlyn where we took the opportunity of a completely empty beach for Bee to swim. Unbelievably a couple arrived just as she was going in and threw balls for their dogs literally over her head. I was fuming - there was 300m of empty beach and they decided to do it metres from us. I was filming Bee swimming and the woman came and stood in front of me. For whatever reason I felt she was deliberately trying to provoke us so I held my tongue, Bee swam in another direction and we left. In the car park a lovely man gave Bee a round of applause for swimming and we had a lovely brief chat, as well as with a grandfather/grandson pair who had been birdwatching. So they outnumbered and made up for the horrible people with their dogs.

We had a long drive back to Pwllheli reminiscing about childhood memories before a lovely dinner with Tom, Sasha and Juno.
