Eastern Tiger Swallowtail on Milkweed

It was a fine summer day, and my husband and I had plans to go swimming at Whipple Dam. As we started up the car to go, I suddenly saw a yellow butterfly arrive on our milkweed. I had to hop out of the car for a few photos before we left. So here is a picture of an eastern tiger swallowtail (Papilio glaucus), on the tallest and most flowery milkweed we've ever had!

We made it to Whipple Dam and the water was fine. We did the same as last time: parked the car part-way in, and took our chairs and daysacks and wandered around. The floatie of the day was a watermelon floatie, and we saw several of them. You may see a dad and his son floating in a pair of them in the extras! Summer fun at Whipple Dam State Park!
