Saying goodbye
(11/7/21)
The car needed a jump-start last night when we needed it to get to dinner. Thankfully it started up when we needed it to bring us home but to be sure it would start again in the morning, we took it for a drive out towards Silicon Oasis. It meant another late night.
This morning, we were up early to take it to the garage to have the battery checked. We were there so early the shop hadn't opened, so we checked the post box and returned via a scenic route. It was as we suspected. The NOVA battery lasting eighteen months had done more than what was expected of it. It was time for a new one. We got a German one this time.
Back home and we got to the 10 am SA Zoom meeting just in time. The new officers did a much more "traditional" SA meeting and gave a good message. Sadly there were not many who joined.
We had to leave promptly to race over to the Sheraton MOE for an in-person meet-up to induct the new pastor and to say farewell to Darryl and Rebecca. They have been with us much longer than anticipated, but have been just the right people to be in post. We are going to miss them hugely.
The rest of the day was spent at home, quiet, catching up. The movie You've Got Mail was showing on one of the free movie channels, so I allowed myself time to relax. I tried to do as much of the Corporate Governance captioning but had to stop around 11. It means there is still some left for tomorrow.
PS. We came home with a "buffet" box of food... COVID is changing so many things. I have to say, the Sheraton did an amazing packed lunch. Very carefully thought out and beautifully presented but oh so environmentally unfriendly.
PPS. My extra is a view we haven't seen since March 2020.
