Toadstools
We got up earlier than usual today, because I was exhausted last night (after getting worked up about the cars in the park) and went to sleep early.
After breakfast we went up to Hamilton Wood, just a mile outside town, for our walk. There were no cars when we arrived so I could be pretty sure we had the woods to ourselves. Hooray!
We had a really good walk around the woods and a couple of fields. It was a bit overcast, but dry, warm, with very little wind. It was more comfortable in the wood.
I checked out the fallen tree with all the fungus on it, just to discover that the fungus is decaying, or whatever fungus does when its past. But I was pleased to spot this wee growth of toadstools in the crook of a tree.
Geordie loved his walk, but slowed down towards the end of it because I think the heat was getting to him.
I picked lots more elderflower heads to make another batch of cordial, because I`ve given the first bottles to friends. It`s really delicious and so easy to make.
Then it was home again to work through my list of things to do. I prefer writing lists of things I`ve done, but these were things that I`ve so far forgotten to do, so a list was necessary.
I completed a claim form for Geordie`s vet visit to his insurance company. I read the meters and put the readings online. I replied to Wendy`s email. I made enquiries as to how to give my old mobile to a friend.
Now I need to hang the washing up, have my meal and water the garden.
Another fine day.
