Penance

Weekend in southern Oregon. After a blazing, hot wedding yesterday, I spent an hour-plus this morning splitting this wood by hand. It’s too dry to use the gas-powered splitter, so I chopped and sweat a little.

It is so sad to see how baked dry this part of Oregon is. We have never seen these conditions this early in the summer. Two major fires rage out of control in southern Oregon, and we are months away from enough rain to help. It’s dire here, folks.
