Arizona Dreamin’

Madera Canyon Day Five

(back blip #6)

I'll go out on a limb and say this was the best photo I got during the week. This is a female Rivoli's hummingbird. Like yesterday's Bridled titmouse, this hummingbird is native to Mexico. It sneaks into Arizona during breeding season. I didn't see as many as I was hoping. In fact, I saw more come to the feeder hanging from my patio than I did at the wildlife viewing area. I got some of the males in flight but none worthy of sharing.  They truly represent their previous name: Magnificent!

I filled the frame with this lady. No crop needed.  Just missed the top tip of the wing but I still like it. Two more nights to spend immersed in the wonders of nature.
