The Barrage

After breakfast at the harbour, we wandered down Bute Street to the city centre for the proper tourist stuff. Unfortunately the modern art galleries at the National Museum are closed right now so we couldn't see the painting by Gwen John that is literally all I remember about Cardiff from my only previous visit, 30-odd years ago but we had a poke around what is open and then walked through the park to the Castle, where we climbed up the keep, went down the tunnels, marvelled at the Roman Wall, the whole bit. Afterwards we had to re-fuel with with vegan pie and then go back to the Bay and watch the Tour in our hotel room. Later on we walked over the Barrage and watched a yacht come through the locks before picnicking under the Senedd canopy with the skateboarders and other assorted youth.
