Back in the saddle!
Technically that should be back at throwing the rider in the saddle … horse shows have been back in for a while but only one person is allowed to accompany the rider, so Emma’s husband has been going with her, although Emma hasn’t been to many as she’s been recovering from her broken ankle.
She’s now undergoing physiotherapy with an equestrian therapist and says she’s totally opened her mind to understanding how bad her alignment is and how much work she needs to do on herself. The trouble is, if you’re not riding correctly, you pass your unbalanced position on to the horse. No good for anyone.
Anyway, today we were at a show in Leicestershire and they were placed 4th, which was a huge surprise after so much time off! Unfortunately only the first 3 placings qualified for The Horse Of The Year Show! To be honest, that’s probably for the best this year, things being as they are.
As it was the women’s singles final at Wimbledon, we listened to that on the way back, then joined Emma’s mum to watch the last set as we arrived home in time to catch it. Didn’t really mind who won, but Ashleigh Barty is very likeable. Great tennis for the whole fortnight from everyone this year, I’m going to miss it next week!
