Easy Rider

We passed by this cafe which we have visited before, and blipped. It is next to the old Stover Canal, near Teigngrace, Newton Abbot. It is a gem of a cafe serving tea and niceties. This old tricycle provoked several memories for Jacqui. ‘ I used to have one of those’, etc. It is a Raleigh Sunbeam Winkie, manufactured by Raleigh bicycles between 1950 and 1970. It was notable for its solid design and easy riding qualities, even for adults, and it’s popularity with the royal family. Raleigh marketed the tricycle to children by having them automatically join an owner’s club called the Circle of the Silver Knights which taught traffic safety. Sounds a bit like a cult. I could still get one on e bay
