Reflections
Today was another grey morning with some rain - where is our summer sunshine? I had a bit of a late night after watching the football - I never watch football and know little about it, but I enjoy the human element of the game, the sheer determination of the players, the emotion as they miss a penalty... I felt so disappointed to hear some English fans booing while the Italians were singing their national anthem, such disgraceful behaviour. My heart went out to those young lads trying to score in the penalty shootout, so much pressure on them and especially when they are so young. Despite not winning, England did exceptionally well to get to the final, and this brought joy to many people and after the misery of the pandemic it was much needed. Well done to Italy, they too have suffered so much during the pandemic so I am so pleased for them that they won.
I like the pond reflections on a dull day as the greys and greens tone well together. On my walk I noticed a large area on the common has been temporarily fenced off and a few goats have been placed in the enclosed area - not sure why, maybe to eradicate a certain plant? Xena went up to the net fencing to see the goats and next thing she was squealing in pain, as the fence was electrified and she had got too close. Poor girl, she got such a fright!
Our plans to go to Switzerland next month have been scuppered as we did not realise until today that Switzerland is only accepting fully vaccinated visitors, and both Tommy and Inca won't have had their second vaccine by the time we plan to go (unless they isolate for 10 days which they cannot do on a 7 day holiday). We are hoping they can get it earlier than the 8 week interval between vaccines, there was a report in The Times saying they will cut that interval to 4 weeks - fingers crossed that they do.
An extra of one of the goats, a rather handsome chap!
