Ugly ducklings

Aren't they cute? It was too lovely an afternoon to go straight home after work so I went to catch up on Blackford Pond. The cygnets are losing their down and getting proper feathers instead. This seems to be a place on the bank where the swan family comes out to preen and snooze, although the parents kept close watch while the cygnets dozed. 

I saw an adult little grebe feeding one of its young which was making quite a racket but the other young seemed to have outgrown that type of behaviour.
