new do

I tried to do the usual trim on Isaac’s hair and it went somewhat awry. My sister was crying with laughter whilst I rang a barber and explained that I’d accidentally made my beautiful son look like Lady Diana. With a heavy heart I whisked him off to the barbers and thought the barber was being an excellent comedian when he said “hi little Diana” to Isaac on arrival. But it turned out he didn’t speak good English and had zero frame of reference for my Lady Di witticism …. and no matter how hard I tried to explain that Isaac is not called Diana, he just smiled and looked puzzled and continued to call him Diana. It was completely and brilliantly ridiculous. It was made worse by the fact that Isaac was intermittently hysterical about the barber ordeal and then sometimes just really confused about who Diana might be and insisting that he’s not Diana. We all survived. But the curls are no more (sniff). As Isaac/Diana said later - repeatedly actually - “I do look very handsome. I’m actually gorgeous!”

Gratefuls:

1. A truly lovely barber - who even gave me an envelope of baby Isaac hair as a keepsake;
2. Evie B coming home with a beautiful school report - so nice to read loveliness, especially that she is always wanting to help anyone in need;
3. A fun teatime with the children. They loved the Diana tale! And we are all amused by how much the boys now look alike.
