Monday
A lovely sunny day at last. We left the two young ones at home, with laptops, phones and deadlines, and set off for an explore of the Penwith coast, avoiding St Ives at all costs! We managed: a Cornish Pasty, the beautiful viewpoint at Pendeen lighthouse (my blip is the view with the old tin mine chimneys on the skyline), a visit to one of the tin mines, a Cornish cream tea . . . and a Well.
Lower Roscaswell Well is marked as a Holy Well on the OS map, but I can find out little about it. Maybe that’s because it seems to be in part of the garden of a house. It is rather nice, with steps and well looked after, although rather murky inside. (See extra).
We meandered back, keeping out of the way of the many visitors around. This evening we have been out to eat and watch a film at the small, but really lovely, Newlyn cinema, just down the road from our daughter’s house. We saw ‘Tove’ the telling of a period in the life of Tove Jansson of Moomintroll fame. We all enjoyed it.
We set off for home tomorrow. We haven’t had the best weather, but it’s been so good to be here.
