Siskin?
It was our first time at church this morning since we went to Christ Church in Russell 2 weeks ago. (They were praying for rain and it would seem that they have had some on South Island this weekend). We had a Lent Lunch and it was nice to catch up with everybody that we haven't seen in the week since we got back.
I got home and realised I had no ideas for a blip so I took a look at the bird feeders. Chris has been filling them up especially as the weather has been so cold. Lots of birds in evidence but there was a couple that I am not familiar with.
I think this might be a Siskin (another shot here at the front bird feeder) which is a new bird to me. I also think we had a lesser Redpoll on the same feeder.
I am so pleased to see all these birds, old and new, after all the years we struggled to attract any. Though they do seem to drop as much seed as they eat but that is somebody else's windfall ie the ground feeders.
I loved seeing the unfamiliar birds in New Zealand too and especially listening to the birdsong. I miss the funny Pukeko I think he was my favourite.
