Commando Memorial
With our holiday drawing to a close we turned South. After driving for some time we were ready for a break and looking for a layby. A parking place was indicated ahead, it turned out to be the car park for the WW11 Commando Memorial.
Having got parked obviously we walked up to the monument for a better view as from the car park the statues had their backs to us. While we were there a gentleman arrived with what was clearly a purpose built electric bike. The luggage carrier at the front had banners "Walking with the wounded". He had cycled by a route which took 2000 miles from (I think) Kings Lynn.
Apart from being himself an ex-commando he had a grey beard which would be larger than Kanyl and mine put together. With the wind blowing his beard was out beyond his shoulder. Quite a character.
