The first cut is the deepest...
Sent Kev off to top grass then spent the morning shifting kit out the workshop. First job was to jump start the combine and reverse it out into the yard, then hitched up and moved the rake, tedder and bale wrapper ready for action. Re parked the combine then had to walk back home as left the tractor on the wrapper ready to check over.
The sun came out so after lunchtime I headed off next door again with the tractor and mower. At last the forecast is for a bit dryer weather ( hopefully) . Spoke to the silage contractor this morning and they hope to get to us at the end of the week, the shearing gang are booked for Monday/ Tuesday and hopefully the other contractor will be here tomorrow to power harrow the ploughed field so I can sow the fodder rape on Thursday. Then hope to bale what I cut today on Friday. The best laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley etc...
Just had a phone call at 10 pm,a gate open and bulling heifers in the barley field. Bugger..
Luckily they followed a bag of feed back to their field. Gate now we'll tied shut.
