Almshouses

Prior to coming to Twyford I don't think I realised almshouses still exist. I have shown the front of the building on a previous Blip. This picture takes a look down the west side of the building. Looking at the plan displayed next to the building it seems there were originally eight dwellings here. More recent alterations have amalgamated the dwellings which now number four.

The original construction dates from 1640. The building is in the shape of a U, but unfortunately a wall prevents a view of the courtyard.
