Chastleton House

A visit to a NT property near Moreton on the Marsh today. Originally built for one of the "New men" in the 17th century Walter Jones, using his fortune to buy land from Robert Gatesby, the mastermind of the Gunpowder plot.
This is a shot looking up the East staircase built in 1639 with carved obelisks above and below the newel posts.

Had an interesting day, with a nice stop for coffee in Moreton on the Marsh to shelter from the rain and snow!!
