Bravery
Had a coffee morning with many cakes and only four of us but it was super sunny and we sat beneath friend’s new awning.
The lady in red was so pleased to join us, first time on social visit for 19 months and most of that was isolation. We made sure to keep distance as she is obviously still unsure, she never let go of her mask clutching it like a lifeline.
Why brave? She has leukaemia and treatment has not worked. She was asked if she would take part in testing new treatments as obviously they do need real people. She jumped at the chance hoping it would achieve results for her as well. It didn’t work, in fact she ended in hospital with colitus. She has to travel a fair distance for this staying overnight in hotel.
She has been asked again by two consultants if she would join another trial to which she agreed. She knows it won’t help her but is prepared to do what she can to help others. An amazing lady, she used to be a teacher/head and was devoted to that job.
