Big & Bold

There are so many hoverflies; two or three to a flower. Honestly, they seem so inquisitive. They come close, looking me in the eye, asking me what I’m up to.

The variety is amazing too - big, small, fat, thin, long, short. Some are browns, some are oranges or golds. But this one is the biggest and brightest I’ve seen yet.  

I will not shoot another I said, but how could I resist. After all she’d even polished her wings for the occasion.
