Experimentation....

Today I purchased my first ever SLR lens. I made the decision last night after having watched endless tutorials on YouTube about the Canon 350D I've been learning to use.

I felt that the lens, a Canon 50mm f1.8 was ideal for the kind of photography I want to experiment with & since it was under £100 thought I'd treat myself.

Having used it for several hours & produced a handful of decent shots for my first attempt I can say that I made a great purchase. Deciding which shot to post today has been difficult.

Today's shot has hardly been edited. It was taken in my very rainy garden against a background of the orange brick walls of my home. I particularly like the way such a shallow depth of field highlights the subject & makes it standout even tho the colours of both the foreground & background are similar.

Anyhow, this is my very first attempt at experimenting with the lens & I hope to produce some quite creative shots in the weeks & months to come.
