Flying!
On Saturday the weather was gorgeous and for most of the day the wind was just right for flying. Guillaume was the only person with a two-person apparatus (I don't know what it's called in English; vol bi-place en Français...) and he was so nice to fly Spencer, Nick, and me each at different times during the day. This is Guillaume and Spencer, who flew last. When we weren't flying of course we were able to ski the small resort, which didn't have many trails but lots of easy-access side country with lots of fresh, untracked snow.
At the end of the day, we skied home through cow fields (and at times over dirt where there wasn't enough snow!) back to the chalet. There were 27 people from the club who stayed for dinner (plus a few kids). Sophie had a few families bring their raclette stoves, and she bought 4 kilos of raclette cheese from the Friday morning market for Saturday's dinner! So we had delicious raclette with green salad for dinner, fruit salad for dessert, and all kinds of different drinks and snacks for apéro. The entire day went really well with everyone flying and the dinner going smoothly.
When I imagined myself coming to France, I never imagined a day like this but it was so typically French Savoyarde I feel as though this is what I should have imagined all along...
