Spot the Red Admiral
This morning I discovered that I'm due to lead a two hour butterfly walk on Saturday. Somehow the organizers forgot to ask me. My first reaction was "I can do it but I wouldn't start from there". Its an area where I don't recall seeing more than a handful of butterflies. Apparently its too late to change the location now as the publicity has been done so I had a walk around this morning to see what I could find. Not much was the answer, a scattering of Meadow Brown and Small Heath, a few Gatekeepers, a Ringlet, a couple of Commas and this Red Admiral doing its best impression of a lichen covered tree trunk.
