British Summer

This morning started out rather overcast but yesterday evening we decided to have a half day out in Saltburn. Firstly because it helps me get plenty of steps and secondly because we have friends visiting next month and they always want to go to Saltburn. We wanted to check out the very good fish & chip restaurant near the pier. Unfortunately it is still under refurbishment. We had been told it would be open again by early July. From the look of it they won't get there before the end of the season. They must be losing an awful lot of trade.

Just as we were half way up the steps to the top of the cliff we bumped into one of our photographic society members who was coming down the steps with his wife. We mentioned that we were hoping for lunch in the fish & chip restaurant with the view of the sea and they suggested we try The Spa Hotel which is near the top of the cliff and highly recommended. We did and had a really great lunch. I am sure we will take our friends there when they visit.

I took a few photos that I liked but decided to blip this one. There were plenty of people on other parts of the beach but this family were well away from them and I thought it just summed up the way we Brits will go to the seaside whatever the weather.  A little still life of modern essentials in extras appealed to me. Looks as if putting flowers in Pastis doesn't do them much good! There was a personalised bottle of hand sanitiser on every table.
