PORKOPOLIS

We lived in Cincinnati, Ohio (US) when our children were young, which was a great place to raise a family.  In the early days of the city, it was called
PORKOPOLIS (sp?) because it had a large German immigrant population, who were famous for their sausage  & other delicious delicacies made from pork.  When we lived there a fun FLYING PIG mascot was
used in parks & other venues.  I had a cement pig statue in my front yard as a lawn ornament,  I used to say:  "When you have a pig in your front yard, you can't take yourself too seriously."

I now live far from that beautiful riverside city, but this display of
porkish art might have had a prominent place in the Cincinnati Art Museum.  Here in Southern California, we don't see pigs very often, but, carnitas are much loved.  And American Southern barbecue has a loyal following.

If pigs could fly....
