Harry Potter Risk.

The first words of the instructions are, 'There are 64 different territories....'

We played for more than two hours and I don't think we had more than three turns each. It was an hour before anyone even rolled the dice!

Anyway, it is To Be Continued ....all over the dining room table.

Later we watched The Day The Earth Stood Still. Al has been stomping around like Gort ever since. I know it's a classic but I've never seen it before, and I really enjoyed it. It's great to watch something with a totally different pace to more modern films. I was sitting next to Al on the sofa and I could feel him wiggling and fidgeting as the tension mounted; I was surprised that he would find something so ponderous exciting - I think I thought he would almost miss the menace as it builds so slowly, but I was wrong.

I always love to see the hair and make up in films from the '40's and '50's as well. There was a scene when a woman leaves her office for lunch. She is wearing a beautiful tailored black suit with gorgeous high heeled shoes. She picks up a tiny black taffeta handbag with a diamanté clasp, and pulls on a pair of white gloves with tiny little frills around the wrists. Her hair has that amazing '50's style that is straight around the crown into a ring of bubbly curls. Everyone looks kind of beautiful in black and white.
