Haus Heyden
Haus Heyden is a former moated castle and was the center of the Heydener Ländchen for centuries. This was created in 1361 from the places Richterich, Horbach, Bank, Berensberg and Eygelshoven. After the French Revolution, the Heydener Ländchen was abolished. Haus Heyden dates from about 1360. At that time the castle was a refuge for the Lords of Jülich and was part of the seigniory of Jülich. Around 1500 the fief was granted inheritance rights. The nun Anna von Schoenrade, who was the owner of the castle at that time, handed it over to the Von Bongart family.
Above the entrance gate is a tympanum. A hard stone slab bears the coat of arms of the Heren von Bongart and the year 1656. Until the beginning of the 20th century, Haus Heyden remained in the hands of the Bongart family.
