A Skylark
Well at least I think it's a Skylark, I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong. I often see them in the air singing away, but not so often on the ground. This was in a field on the cliffs at Weybourne where I went this morning for a walk and to get a paper. I then met up with my friend L and husband J at Blickling, who are on a late booking visit to Norwich from MK. I enjoyed a little playlet about life at Blickling in the past - see Extra collage, which also includes a gatekeeper and ringlet. Very hot and sunny today.
Such terrible news of the flooding in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands which has left 168 dead and many missing, not to mention the destruction to property caused. Surely a consequence of climate change. The footage of a whole house going down a river and the drone footage were truly shocking.
Day 488 / Day 62 of Step 3 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The Health Secretary Sajid Javid has tested positive on a lateral flow test and is awaiting a confirmatory PCR test. He is double jabbed and is self isolating at home after feeling unwell Fri night. I wonder who'll be pinged by the app or contacted by T&T as he was in the Commons on Wed and in Downing St on Friday. One tube line is suspended and two are facing severe delays due to lack of available staff as are rail and bus services in the NE (Covid related). In a change to policy last night, the Govt said that those returning to the England and Wales from France who are double jabbed will not be exempt from having to quarantine for 10 days as other amber list countries are from Monday (they can get tested). This is due to numbers of the Beta variant which is worryingly not so well protected against by the AZ vaccine (most in the UK have had AZ, most in France have had Pfizer). Flu jabs will be offered to 35m people this winter, including all secondary school pupils for the first time.
