Nicktor's news

Crazy!

Last year in our pre-season friendlies I think we scored ten goals and conceded just one.  This trend looked likely to continue when we narrowly beat Badshot Lea 2-1 last weekend.  This weekend, I chose football over cricket (we drew again) as we had a game away at our local rivals, Farnborough.  I say our local rivals, but we haven't played them for about 15 years.  Prior to that, we were in the same league for a few years, and remarkably back in 1993 nearly 6,000 fans packed into the Recreation Ground to watch a spectacular game of football where Farnborough edged a five goal thriller in the semi-final of the Hampshire Cup.

Today attracted quite a large number of fans and the Shots won 7-5.  I did wonder how many league games it would be before we saw the Shots cumulatively score seven in the season.  Rob, the radio commentator for the Shots on BBC Surrey thought it might not be until November which I thought was slightly harsh, but couldn't come up with a convincing argument as to why he might be wrong.
