Rough Ride
Ugh, so good to be home finally. What should have been a 6 hour drive took 10 hours. The traffic was horrendous on the Interstates and then the torrential rains came (See extra). This is the Mario Cuomo bridge crossing from one side of New York to the other across the Hudson River. For all my life it was called the Tappan Zee, now renamed for a former mayor of New York. The original name Tappan was for an Indian tribe and Zee apparently is the Dutch word for "sea".
When we got into Massachusetts, the skies opened up! The rain was so heavy at times we were doing 25 mph on the interstate. There was some flooding on the roadways and the puddles were scary. Visibility was near zero and cars were pulling over under the overpasses to wait it out. In extra, a shot outside the window as we splashed through a puddle.
