After a rough night last night with Heat Stroke and surviving in a what is essentially a metal box with 1 net covered by a mosquito net, we decided to have a relaxing day in the shade of the trees and wallow in the lagoon.

In one such tree, we saw this little fella. I'd been hearing them since we arrived at the camp site, but couldn't believe this what was making the noise until I saw it with my own eyes.

The song above has a random verse about being confused with a monkey. There's no artistic licence involved - It's amazing. If you get anyone to do an impression of a monkey, chances are they will do a passable impression of this little bird! About the size of a pigeon, with a head too large for its body - you can hear these things for miles!!

We also had our dive medicals today. We are enrolled on a PADI Scuba Diving course later this week (if you're going to learn somewhere, it might as well be on the great barrier reef!). The final results showed that Sophie couldn't 'pop' her ears (a vital requirement for diving to stop the pressure bursting your ear drums!), and I had absolutely no balance.

We both passed.

That evening we discovered a bar just a little way out of town called Banjo's. It was far enough out of town to loose the tourist backpacker scene, and was full of locals (always a good sign!). They also did 2 for 1 meals, on Wednesdays and Sundays, and the food is AMAZING!
