Farewell to the Copelands
It was a rather messy departure as the anchor seemed to have ploughed through most of the seaweed in Donaghadee Sound! This, added to the fact that the windlass gave up the ghost, meant that the AM had rather an arduous time hauling up the anchor. Yes, by hand!
Once the anchor was clear he then had to spend quite a bit of time freeing it from the seaweed, assisted by the doughty boat hook. Phew!
To make up for this protracted departure the winds blew at a nice steady 10-12 knots to allow us a very pleasant sail home, although it was quite choppy.
Now safely tied up at the marina and about to have a celebratory petit blanc.
