The End of The Odeon
Most people from Glasgow, of say 20 plus, will have visited the Odeon Cinema, situated on the corners of Renfield Street, West Nile Street and West Regent Street.
It formerly housed the Paramount Theatre, opened on Hogmanay 1934.
I remember, in the early sixties, my aunt trying to get tickets to see the Beatles - she failed but we went along to get a glimpse anyway. "Nae chance". There were "millions" of screaming fans surrounding the entire area.
They are redeveloping it and keeping the facade. Its been lying empty since 2006, so any progress will be good for Glasgow, particularly keeping and enhancing the iconic art-deco appearance.
This shot is from the corner of W. Nile Street and W. Regent Street.
