The Jura

Day 1:Route 7, 81km, 873m +, 717 descent

Early this morning we took the train to Basel with two friends to start a 4-day national Route bike ride. The weather is sunny and hot. It’s our first time doing a long trip on the ebikes. Getting them on and off the first train was challenging as we had to lift them but for the other two trains we were able to wheel them on. The scenery was beautiful…rolling hills and beautiful villages. (See extras) The main is one of the fields that we passed early in the day.

Almost the first thing we saw was a field of cranes following a farmer who was cutting the grass with a tractor. I immediately regretted not bringing my camera (iPhone only in this trip) I had been worried about the weight and also I wasn’t sure how patient everyone would be with me stopping to take photos. We are now guaranteed to see wildlife!!

Spending the night in Porrentruy, a fabulous old town with cobbled streets and a chateau.
