Fight to the death
It looks like a David and Goliath situation but this small (Crab?) Spider has overcome this much larger Six Spot Burnett moth.
I made my first visit to the reserve next to the Heysham Power Stations this morning. The meadows had some particularly large Common Spotted Orchids still in bloom and were teeming with butterflies and moths; mostly Meadow Browns, Gatekeepers, Common Blues and Small Skippers. They were all very flighty in the heat of the day but the actions of the above spider allowed me to capture this unfortunate Six Spot Burnett.
