Herring gull chick
The chick landed in my tiny garden. The parents nest on my roof. They are a massive nuisance. The noise they make is horrendous. The birds fly round and round in some kind of frenzy, screeching and flapping. The chicks constantly screech to be fed. This all begins at 4 am. I thought the chick couldn't fly but when I looked for it in the yard it was gone. My garden (yard) is enclosed by a high wall so it must be able to fly.
I am pleased it has gone. The gulls are a problem in Sunderland. They eat anything including baby ducklings. I have seen them fighting over any piece of food from a chicken leg to a dead pidgeon.
The population of ducks in the park has dropped dramatically.
