Rare Treat

We just added this butterfly bush to our garden yesterday and much to our surprise we are reaping the rewards in less than 24 hours! • I was beyond thrilled to discover this Hummingbird Clearwing Moth sipping nectar from the gorgeous amethyst colored blooms. It was a first for me! • This is the most common hummer moth in Maine but there is another that’s called the Snowberry Clearwing that makes an occasional appearance though more common in the western US • A warm humid day but it’s grown overcast this afternoon as thunderstorms are forecasted for later.
