A Butterfly Hunt

My friend G and I went in search of butterflies at the Country Park this morning before it got too hot. We were rewarded by seeing a number of white admirals and silver-washed fritillaries. At the top of the collage is the white admiral, with it's underwing bottom left. I only got the one photo of the silver-washed fritillary as it simply wouldn't land. I also saw red admirals, green veined whites, large whites, and ringlets. A lovely butterfly hunt. This afternoon I did some house stuff and then sat out in the garden and started reading Hilary Mantel's autobiography. Another very hot and sunny day. I've attached an Extra of my first ever crop of potatoes.

Day 492 / Day 3 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The ONS reports that blood tests from the week beginning 28th June show that 9 in 10 UK adults have antibodies either from infection of vaccination. The ONS also reported that up to 6.2% of adults may have experienced long Covid (3.6% said they had had it, with 2.6% being unsure). The CQC reports that over 39,000 care home residents died with Covid between 10th April 2020 and 31st March 2021 with one home having 44 deaths and 21 homes with more than 30 deaths. The Labour leader is self-isolating for the 4th time after one of his children tested positive. A top British skeet shooter has tested positive and had to withdraw from the Olympics. NHS staff in England will receive a 3% pay rise backdated to Apr 2021 after the Govt accepted the recommendations of the pay review body. Compulsory vaccination for care home staff might mean 40,000 staff leave (of the 570k employed).
