Barajils

This the barajils on the house by the beach I was at this morning.

This isn't strictly authentic, as its probably under ten years old, but is a good reflection of how houses used to look historically. This feature was common in Emirati housing back in the pearl diving days of old Dubai.

Essentially its a wind tunnel, designed to push cool air through the house, long before AC was present in the Gulf
