Jelly Fish!

After I finished work at lunch time, I picked Yvonne up and drove to Penmaenmawr beach for the afternoon. We planned to go for a swim, and the sea certainly felt warm and inviting, but there were so many jelly fish, that we decided not to swim. We had a paddle and sat at the water’s edge but soon moved when we saw one coming towards us!

So instead we strolled along in the shallows, dodging the jellies and taking photos of them. Then we came across the biggest Jelly that I’ve ever seen - the main one in my collage. I’ve since found out that it’s a barrel jelly fish and not actually harmful, not sure i’d like to swim into it though! It’s hard to give an idea on size but if you compare it to the one where I’ve used my feet to give an idea of scale, it was much bigger than that, and apparently they grow to approx 1 metre!

I’ve been able to identify them thanks to Google and going round from top left there’s a Compass jelly fish, Common jellyfish, Barrel, Lion’s Mane, another Common and the massive Barrel. I can’t say I like them but they’re interesting to look at, and I’m amazed how many different types we saw on that beach!
