Painted Lady, Open and Closed

This lovely Painted Lady Butterfly visited and I was able to photograph her open and closed, showing both sides of her beautiful wings.  She is visiting some Common Evening Primrose which most people consider weeds but I leave it because the Hummingbirds and Butterflies love it.  Their welfare is more important to me than a pristine garden.  Primrose has lots of medicinal uses and the roots and early leaves are edible.  The Painted Lady has some interesting facts and you can read about her here.
