We were without electricity for the first half of the day, with power lines down over the Shotover Bridge on State Highway 6. Apparently there was traffic shambles. We started off with a sharp frost so the sun’s warmth was very welcome when it appeared. I got my camping meths burner out to boil water for a hot drink.
