Maalie

The fulmar (locally called maalie) are now one of the most common breeding sea birds around Shetland - and their chicks are amongst the latest to fledge - this youngster still has a quite a few days to go before he (or she) gets their flight feathers!

And the extra is a picture of a tystie chick - not yet ready to leave the burrow but getting curious about the world outside.
